Underground Blasting Supervisor

About this role

Our client, a leading platinum producer in the Rustenburg area, requires an experienced Blasting Supervisor to oversee drilling and blasting crews on an underground shift. You will plan blast layouts, manage explosives handling and storage in line with statutory requirements, and lead a team of blasters and miners to deliver safe, on-target production.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise daily drilling and blasting cycles
• Ensure correct explosives handling, storage and accounting
• Conduct pre- and post-blast safety inspections
• Manage and mentor a shift team of blasters and miners
• Report production, safety incidents and compliance to mine management

Requirements

• Valid Blasting Certificate (Mining), Rock Breaking
• Minimum 5 years' underground blasting experience, platinum or gold sector
• Certificate of Competency (Mine Overseer or Shift Supervisor) advantageous
• Sound knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA)
• Medically fit for underground work (Red Ticket)
